Planting tulips

My husband gave me some beautiful planted tulips for Valntine's Day. The bloomed for a week or so, then "died" - and we will be replanting them in the front yard this week.

We discovered that our house has incredible bushes. All autumn and winter I lamented how "ugly" these huge things were lining the front of our house - but now they have bloomed in brilliant shades of red, pink, orange, and coral. How could I have regretted them? They are absolutely brilliant and gorgeous.
